The Shaman of the Seventh Rib of Pandarve is the religious leader of the Ribs of Pandarve. He watches over the healing vapour known as Pandarve's Breath, and takes care of the patients who needs to be cured with it. As such, we see him fasten Ember to the crane (with the help of a fisherman) and lower her legs into the pit out of which Pandarve's Breath comes. At night, the shaman is watching over Ember, murmuring prayers and chants, although in the daytime Ember is just left alone 'until Pandarve's Breath awakens her.'
He was attacked by members of The Rebellion against the regime of Marduk who abducted Ember, stating he would have a sore throat for a couple of days thereafter.
Surprisingly, given that nudity is a crime on Pandarve's Ribs, and therefore every bit of skin that isn't covered by clothes or hair has to be tattooed, the shaman himself doesn't have any tattoos at all.
